Saturday 9-12-09 was our first day of practice. We had 10 girls participate and 2 more that have committed to joining the team at this time.
We ordered t-shirts and shorts today so they will hopefully be done for our first Saturday play date! Shirts are pink with royal blue. Shorts are royal blue. Our team name this year will be the "Bluejay Chics".
Any one else planning to join the team needs to let us know ASAP so we can get their outfit ordered. Parents can order t-shirts as well for $10 each. Dad's can have white or grey if they don't want pink. :-) I need to know ASAP if you want one.
Plans are still tentative but we have high hopes to have a fifth grade team and a third/fourth grade team. Also tentative are the plans for future Saturday competitions at Wellington, Belle Plaine, Mulvane and South Haven, as well as hosting a play date at Caldwell. Our Rec. Director is working out the details at this time.
Our focus is obviously on the basic fundamentals. We will work mostly on bumping, overhand serving and understanding their positions on the court as well as the rules of the game. Big emphasis will be placed on having respect of each other, coaches, and opponents. We will also stress encouragement for each other and uniting as a team.
Thanks to all of you who shared your daughters with us Saturday morning. We had fun and look forward to a great season!
Coach Jo and Coach Tammy :-)
The only football that we have here in Caldwell KS is flag football and the sign up will be after school starts. If you are interested in a contact football league you will need to contact Wellington KS or Medford OK about their programs.
Can anyone tell me when the sign ups for the Football program are? Where, what time? I was hoping to find that info on the page, but cant seem to find it.. Can anyone help???? Thank you
Last night the Machine-Pitch boys team received 3rd place medals in their tournament. Anthony #1 placed first and Mayfield placed 2nd. Caldwell had a young team this year and should be very competitive next year. A special thanks to Josh Lee for all his time and effort coaching these young players.
If I remember right -
Missy will take care of Thursday 25th
Kenda will take care of Friday 26th
Eric will take care of Wednesday July 1st
Jamie will take care of the 2nd home game.
That leaves one home game left for snacks. If you would like to bring snacks to this game - please let us know!
Thanks for all your help!
- Marcie & Jamie
We are thinking of trying to have a "water treat" (ballons) for the kids tonight at practice. If any of you have a problem with this, please let Marcie or Jamie know asap. You can call us or email Jamie at jamie@kanokla.com.
Please don't say anything to the kids in case it doesn't happen! :)
A great big thanks goes out to parents who helped with the concession stand during the tournament, we couldn't have done it without you!!! Also thanks to the the girls who helped for part of their community service hours you were a huge help, you were awesome!!!
Thanks also to everyone who helped before and during the tournament. Without everyone's help today wouldn't have been the success that it was.
To the Caldwell coaches who jumped in this year you also deserve a HUGH THANK YOU!! We know the coaches have spent many hours practicing with the kids and the Recreation Commission appreciates all that you have done.
